MICO info
Slick - the word used by one music reviewer to describe the music of MICO. In a world of varying tastes and varying degrees of accessible pop music of substance, MICO set out from the beginning to achieve high level of music.

The goal was to compose, perform and show the world the unique blend of music and heart. The sounds are deliberately associative to bring back an experience or to evoke emotions from within. At the root of MICO is conviction; conviction to the song. Like a queen bee MICO has given birth to hundreds of songs with killer sting hook lines and honey sweet melodies.

The whole is greater than some of the parts, this is the MICO way. Although individually talented in their own right it's the fusion of

personalities and influences which forms the basis of this world class act.

It is through the busy live cover band scene of Melbourne Australia where the group became band mates and friends. After receiving adulation for the playing OPM (Other peoples music)it was time to exercise the creative energies.A new and exciting era had begun with regular song writing sessions churning out more dynamic pop tunes than The Dynamic Pop Tune Factory.

The people of MICO are people not holographic images of pop stars. Each member is a vital ingredient. The voice of MICO is Bernard Pascal, not black nor white just smooth milk chocolate. Bernard's music ambition is to create a bridge of culture through music. With influences from Hendrix to Humperdinck to Hardcore Techo the style is distinctly his own. If you had to draw a comparison names like George Michael, Roachford and Michael Jackson have been used.

Fred Leduc is the guitarist, songwriter and in house producer of the band. After achieving international recognition for his progressive rock album titled Deluc "Eighth Wonder" Fred decided to turn his talents to pop music. With  music degree's under his belt Fred is the consummate musician. His musical ambitions are to continuously create inspiring music.

Anthony Scaffidi otherwise known as Scaf is the beat master. Having acquired respect from such heavy weights as Chad Smith from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Will Calhoun from Living Colour and Ricky Lawson from Phil Collins Band. Anthony is a star in his own right. In fact he is so respected for his drumming abilities that he is one of only fifty people Australia Wide to be endorsed by Pearl Drums.

Andy Watson is the other half of the infectious groove rhythm machine. He has the pedigree of a live performer has toured Australia

extensively. He possesses an understanding of hard rock coupled with the sensitivity of groove music. A quiet person by nature but when on stage with Warick bass in hand watch out.

Four different people together forming a perfect blend which is MICO.

REVIEWS OF MICO:

Review in Beat Magazine   ---  by Adrian Pertout                        "Best Intentions" kicks off the Mico sound machine, which at first hearing seems reminiscent of 70s & 80s funkadelia. Highlighted from zero gravity are the soulful vocals of Bernard Pascale, which rest comfortably on the cool beds of slickly produced fretted funk riffs and subsonics, perfectly sustained by the beatmaster  "Old Mans Ways" becomes more acrobatic vocally, although the solid funk groove formula soldiers on, while  "Road to Somewhere Else" has a much rockier edge. "Mina" on the other hand is an anthem like soul ballad.     The cd contains a video version of "Goddess", a smooth hypnotic percussive track that stylistically yet again sticks close to home base.      When it comes to describing the music of  Mico, 'slick' is the word.

Review in hEARd Magazine --- by Terry Allen                 A fascinating albums worth of music from a new Australian band set to launch themselves on the world.  The bands debut album opens with a flash,            "Best Intentions", which in the tradition of all good pop songs comes across as a catchy pop tune, complete with interesting backing instrumentation.                          Other highlights include "I Need Love" which is definitely in the dance vein, while others like "In a Dream" and "Old Mans Ways" are obvious candidates for a next single. The pick here is the infectious "Havana Moon", my personal favourite.  The band have taken a different tack to many in the independent scene and would seem to be destined for the attention of both the mainstream buying public, as well as that of major recording labels on the lookout for a new sound.

Review  in MozMusic magazine--- by Andrew Demitriou                Mico's debut album is a great listen ,  right up there with Australia's top artists . It is pop music with a hint of rock , R&B , dance , and even a little jazz sound , which makes Mico a great album to sing along with and just as good to sit down, listen & chill out to.               The bands debut single"Goddess" is a catchy pop / R&B tune, the first track "Best Intentions " is a great song to sing & dance to.       Bernards soulful vocals flow perfectly along with the music throughout each song .   Mico's debut is a beautiful album, every track a catchy tune, with many tracks deserving of mainstream chart success.
